Trixie Vimy Raincoat Petrol

THE RAINCOAT THAT MAKES A WET WALK LOOK EASY

Petrol is the colour that sits somewhere between deep teal and steel blue, and on a grey, drizzly morning it looks deliberate rather than incidental, which is more than can be said for most dog coats pulled off a hook in a hurry. The Trixie Vimy Raincoat in Petrol is a windproof, waterproof polyurethane/polyester coat with two waterproof zip openings for use with collar or harness, a drawstring at the collar, a belly strap with buckle, adjustable hind leg loops, and reflective elements for low-light visibility, covering everything from a short pavement walk to a longer autumn trail without the dog arriving home soaked.

Why it's a great choice

  • Two waterproof zips for use with collar or harness: The Vimy has two dedicated waterproof zip openings built into the coat so it can be worn with either a collar or a harness without having to remove it first; this is a detail that genuinely matters on a rainy day when the last thing any owner wants is to take the coat off, thread it over a harness, and start again at the roadside, and it makes the Vimy compatible with whatever walking setup the dog already uses.

  • Windproof polyurethane/polyester construction with easy-care lining: The outer fabric is a polyurethane/polyester blend that provides a windproof barrier against cold and driving rain, with an easy-care lining on the inside that sits comfortably against the dog's coat and wipes clean without matting or absorbing moisture; the combination makes this a genuinely practical raincoat rather than one that keeps the rain out on the outside while becoming damp and uncomfortable within.

  • Adjustable fit with drawstring, belly strap, and hind leg loops: Three independent adjustment points, a drawstring at the collar, a belly strap with buckle, and adjustable loops for the hind legs, allow the coat to be fitted precisely to the dog's individual shape rather than relying on a single tightening mechanism to do all the work; this level of adjustability is particularly valuable for dogs whose body proportions do not follow standard breed templates, ensuring the coat stays in place during movement without bunching or riding up.

  • Measure your dog before ordering: The Vimy is sized by back length and stomach circumference, running from XS (25cm back, stomach 20-39cm) through to XXL (80cm back, stomach 82-115cm); to find the right size, measure from the base of the collar to the base of the tail for back length and around the widest point of the stomach for girth. Please consult our How to Measure guide before placing your order.

Key benefits for your Dog

  • Reflective elements for safety in low-light conditions: Reflective detailing is incorporated into the coat's design to make the dog more visible in low light, early mornings, and dusk walks through the autumn and winter months; this is a passive safety feature that requires nothing from the owner to activate and works automatically whenever a light source, whether a car headlight, a torch, or a street lamp, hits the coat at the right angle.

  • Full back coverage for genuine wet-weather protection: A slim-fit design runs along the dog's back and sides to provide coverage where rain lands most heavily during a walk, keeping the dog's coat and skin dry even in prolonged downpours; the waterproof outer prevents saturation rather than merely slowing it, which means the dog returns from a wet walk in significantly better condition than it would without a coat, and with considerably less to dry off afterwards.

  • Machine washable at 30 degrees for easy maintenance: The Vimy is machine washable at 30 degrees, keeping upkeep straightforward for a coat in regular use through the wetter months; the polyurethane/polyester construction holds its waterproofing and shape through repeated washing, and the easy-care lining is designed to be cleaned without retaining odours or losing its smooth finish after time in the machine.

  • Six size options from XS to XXL for any breed or build: With sizes from XS (back length 25cm, stomach 20-39cm) through to XXL (back length 80cm, stomach 82-115cm), the Vimy range covers small terriers, toy breeds, and puppies at one end and large shepherds, retrievers, and giant breeds at the other; each size is further defined by a stomach circumference range so owners can cross-check fit against both back length and girth to choose with confidence.

A petrol-coloured windproof and waterproof dog raincoat with two waterproof zip openings for collar or harness use, three-point adjustable fit, reflective safety elements, and sizes from XS to XXL, built for dogs and owners who take wet weather seriously.

What you'll need:

A soft tape measure
A calm dog (treats help!)
A friend to assist (optional, but handy!)

You will need to measure your dog's back length, neckline and chest girth.

Back length (Base of Neck to Base of Tail):
Start at the base of your dog’s neck, where the neck meets the shoulders, not where a collar usually sits and lay the tape along their spine to the base of their tail.  When measuring your dog’s back, always allow for the natural curve of their spine, coats aren’t meant to be drum-tight!

Tip: Make sure the dog is standing, not sitting or lying down. Add 1–2cm for comfort and ease of movement. If your dog is between sizes, it’s usually best to go up a size for a better fit and coverage.

Stomach Girth (Widest Part of Rib Cage):
Find the widest part of your dog’s ribcage, usually just behind the front legs. Wrap the tape measure around this area to get the stomach girth.

Tip: Keep the tape snug but not tight. You should be able to slip one or two fingers between the tape and your dog’s body.

Measuring Tips for Best Results:
Keep your dog calm and standing upright. Ask a friend to help and use treats or toys to keep them relaxed.
For fluffy dogs, part or gently press down the fur to get an accurate measurement close to the body.
Measure more than once to make sure your numbers are consistent.
