A SCOTTISH RECIPE FOR DOGS WHO EAT WITH CONVICTION

Scotland has a long tradition of making the most of every part of the animal, and Wilsons Premium Cold Pressed Haggis is built on that same principle: dried ground lamb at 21%, hydrolysed liver at 7%, and lamb fat at 5% combined with oats and rice for a satisfying, wheat-free cold pressed food with genuine depth of flavour. Wilsons Premium Cold Pressed Haggis is cold pressed at low temperature to retain the nutrients present in the lamb, liver, kale, seaweed, and botanical ingredients, delivering 24% crude protein at 3,450 kcal/kg in a recipe that is both chicken-free and wheat-free. For dogs who benefit from lamb and liver as their primary protein sources and who thrive on oats and rice rather than grain-free starches, this is a distinctive recipe that stands on its own.

Why it's a great choice

  • Hydrolysed lamb liver at 7%:Hydrolysed liver adds concentrated flavour and a rich source of B vitamins, iron, and essential nutrients that complement the muscle meat and fat from dried ground lamb, producing a more nutritionally rounded protein profile than muscle meat alone.

  • Wheat free, not grain free:This recipe contains oats and rice, making it wheat free rather than grain free. For dogs with a wheat sensitivity who do not require a fully grain-free diet, this opens the option of a lamb-based recipe with oat and rice carbohydrates.

  • Chicken free with a single meat source:With all protein sourced from lamb, this recipe contains no chicken or chicken derivatives, making it a reliable option for dogs with confirmed chicken sensitivity who thrive on red meat proteins.

  • Scottish recipe, cold pressed to retain nutrition:Made in Scotland using a lamb-based haggis-inspired recipe and cold pressed at low temperature, this food retains more natural nutrition than baked kibble while offering a flavour profile and ingredient combination that is genuinely distinct within the cold pressed category.

Key benefits for your Dog

  • 24% crude protein for daily maintenance:At 24% crude protein with lamb as the sole meat source, this recipe meets the daily maintenance requirements of adult dogs while providing the iron, zinc, and amino acids that red meat protein delivers particularly well.

  • Taurine and carnitine for heart health:Taurine and carnitine at 50mg/kg are included in the recipe to support cardiac muscle function and fat metabolism, complementing the lamb fat and rapeseed oil that provide the recipe's fat content.

  • MOS and prebiotic fibre for gut health:MOS at 500mg/kg, chicory, inulin, and beet pulp fibre work together to support a healthy gut microbiome and firmer stool consistency, which is particularly relevant for dogs transitioning from a different food format.

  • Botanicals and selenium for immune support:Selenium yeast, kale, seaweed, cranberry, dandelion root, marigold yellow, lutein, ginger, turmeric, and thyme provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-supporting compounds alongside the core lamb and liver protein.

How to Transition to Cold Pressed

Switching your dog’s diet gradually helps prevent digestive upset. Follow this 7-day plan:

Days 1–3:
Introduce cold pressed as a treat, gradually increasing the amount (no more than 25% of their daily intake). If your dog is on a strict diet, slightly reduce their old food to balance calories.

Days 4–6:
Replace their breakfast with cold pressed (half their daily portion), while still feeding their old food for dinner.

Day 7-9:
Feed 75% of daily intake as cold pressed, make up the rest with their old food.

Day 9+:
Fully transition to 100% cold pressed.

For dogs with sensitive stomachs, extend each phase by 2–3 days for a gentler adjustment.
