The Advanced Evaporative Cooling Vest for Safe, Comfortable Summer Adventures

Dogs in the middle of summer are working harder than they let on, panting to manage heat they cannot shed through their skin the way humans do, and sometimes that system needs a hand. All For Paws Chill Out Cooling Vest for Dogs is designed to be soaked in water and worn during walks and outdoor activities, using evaporative cooling to draw heat away from the body as the moisture gradually releases. Lightweight enough not to restrict movement and breathable enough to do the job efficiently, it is a genuinely useful piece of warm-weather kit.

Why it’s a great choice

  • Evaporative cooling technology: Soak in water and the vest cools by releasing moisture gradually over the course of a walk.

  • Lightweight breathable fabric: Allows air circulation while maintaining effective contact cooling across the body.

  • Adjustable fit: Straps and fastenings adjust to fit different body shapes and sizes without bunching or slipping.

  • Machine washable and reusable: Simple to care for and ready for repeated use across the whole summer season.

Key benefits for your Dog

  • Lowers body temperature during exercise: Active dogs wearing an evaporative vest can exercise more safely in warm conditions.

  • Extends safe outdoor time: Effective cooling means longer, more comfortable walks during the hottest months.

  • Essential for at-risk dogs: Particularly valuable for brachycephalic breeds, elderly dogs, and thick-coated working breeds.

  • Non-restrictive fit: Does not impede movement, natural stride, or posture during any outdoor activity.

An essential summer accessory for active dogs and owners who walk regularly in warmer months, particularly those with breeds more susceptible to overheating.

What you'll need:
A soft tape measure
A calm dog (treats help!)
A friend to assist (optional, but handy!)

You will need to measure your dog's back length, neckline and chest girth.

Back length (Base of Neck to Base of Tail):
Start at the base of your dog’s neck—where the neck meets the shoulders, not where a collar usually sits and lay the tape along their spine to the base of their tail. When measuring your dog’s back, always allow for the natural curve of their spine — coats aren’t meant to be drum-tight!

Tip: Make sure the dog is standing, not sitting or lying down. Add 1–2cm for comfort and ease of movement. If your dog is between sizes, it’s usually best to go up a size for a better fit and coverage.

Neckline (Base of Neck):
Wrap the tape measure snugly around the base of your dog’s neck—where the neck meets the shoulders, not where a collar usually sits.

Tip: Think of where a polo shirt collar would naturally sit on your dog. Don’t measure too high.

Chest Girth (Widest Part of Rib Cage):
Find the widest part of your dog’s ribcage—usually just behind the front legs. Wrap the tape measure around this area to get the chest girth.

Tip: Keep the tape snug but not tight. You should be able to slip one or two fingers between the tape and your dog’s body.

Measuring Tips for Best Results:
Keep your dog calm and standing upright. Ask a friend to help and use treats or toys to keep them relaxed.
For fluffy dogs, part or gently press down the fur to get an accurate measurement close to the body.
Measure more than once to make sure your numbers are consistent.
